This position reports to the Department Chair of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics at MCC. ACCOUNTABILITIES: Teaches an assigned academic course schedule in the Advanced Manufacturing and related programs including classroom, laboratory, and field experience setting as appropriate for the academic program; Participates in coordination and oversight of program accreditation activities for the Advanced Manufacturing Technologies and related engineering programs; Demonstrates teaching effectiveness through the development, evaluations, and modification of program curricula and instructional materials that comply with established course content, integrate theory with applications, clearly defines course goals, observe program and institutional accreditations standards, promote critical thinking and life skills, and responds to diverse academic needs; Establishes new and maintains current effective relationships with industry, meet with employers and workforce partners for recruitment/outreach & promotional visits; Works with the Program Coordinator and Department Chair to create articulation agreements and career pathways with high schools, two year and four year colleges; Promotes and aids in the creation and delivery of effective online teaching/learning; Supervises student learning activities and academic progress and maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments. Consults with and interprets these to students; Coordinates and leads Program activities and operations by meeting with executive and advisory groups to discuss needs, career developments, and the effectiveness of instruction, developing and evaluating credit and non-credit programs and/or courses, mentoring faculty in subject area competency and instructional expertise, actively cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships with business and industry within the field of instruction, and engaging in outreach to educational partners for the development and implementation of articulation initiatives; Participates in the planning, development, and implementation of college sponsored recruitment and retention activities including career and job fairs, student orientations, registrations, and award ceremonies, and/or advising student activity groups, as assigned; Remains current within the specialized field of instruction through participation in relevant professional associations and educational & training activities; Utilizes appropriate instructional and administrative technologies as required for teaching effectiveness and college operations/communication; Requisitions necessary equipment, supplies, and classroom materials with ample lead time to assure a smooth instructional program; assists colleagues in the design and maintenance of physical facilities and resources to ensure safe and effective instruction; Performs routine maintenance and trouble-shooting on manufacturing laboratory equipment and assists with setup and breakdown of class and lab demonstrations and student projects requiring specialized equipment; cleans up and organizes tools and machines as needed; Oversees lab technician assisting students with lab skills and utilizing Lean concepts within the teaching lab; Observes all academic policies and procedures and institutional rules and regulations and demonstrates ethical and professional behavior; Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations; Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in manufacturing, engineering, education, or business. Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Education shall require an Associate’s degree in a subject area closely related to the teaching assignment. Experience: Four (4) years of teaching experience in manufacturing or related course work or four (4) years of business or industry experience directly related to the field of the teaching assignment. OR Education: Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college or technical school with major study in manufacturing, engineering, education, or business. Experience: Six (6) years of teaching experience in manufacturing or related course work or six (6) years of business or industry experience directly related to the field of the teaching assignment. License/Certification: None required SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: ROBOTICS/MECHATRONICS - The ideal candidate for this position possesses knowledge, skills, and experience in mechatronics, programmable logic controllers, and/or robotics. In lieu of that, an individual with multidisciplinary knowledge, skills, and experience in all, or nearly all, of the following may be considered an appropriate candidate for this position: (i) electrical engineering (ii) mechanical engineering (iii) automated process control/manufacturing (iv) computer and/or microprocessor programming (v) motors (vi) motion control. A successful candidate would be required to demonstrate the ability and willingness to quickly acquire the requisite knowledge and skills in mechatronics, programmable logic controllers, and/or robotics.
