iCRAG PhD studentship RM1.3 PhD1 The distribution of precious and energy critical elements at the scale of a Zn and Cu mineral deposit A four year PhD research studentship opportunity (starting September 2015) in the field of geochemistry and mineralogy of precious and energy critical metals exists for highly motivated individuals at the Department of Geology, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.. iCRAG, the new Irish Centre for Research in Applied Geosciences, is funded under the SFI Research Centres Programme and is co-funded under the European Regional Development Fund. It is supporting >40 new early career research opportunities. This Ph.D. project aims to further advance the field of economic geology of energy critical elements. The candidate will work with industry sponsors and use the Department's state-of-the-art geochemical facility: (www.tcd.ie/Geology/research/facilities/geochemfacility/geochronology/) to conduct research into the laws that govern distribution of precious and energy critical elements in Zn and Cu deposits. The candidate will be part of a larger research team belonging to the Irish Centre for Research in Applied Geosciences. The ideal candidate is a Geology graduate with demonstrated expertise in economic geology and mineralogy. The project is open to EU students only (students who have been resident for 3 out of the last 5 years in the EU) and includes fees and a tax-free stipend of €18,000 per annum for 48 months.
