Lincoln Elementary PTA Minutes March 12, 2013 DRAFT The meeting was called to order at 6:40 pm. In attendance: Diane Smith, Cathie Voth, Carla Albrecht, Marion Hunner, Amy Swanson, Dan Schmidt, Nicole Kendall, Dawn Leeson, Nancy Danenberg, Mary Mengel, George Kimball Welcome/Introductions President’s Report – Diane Smith Applebee’s (Near CUB foods) will be hosting our Family Night Out on March 19th. 15% will be donated to Lincoln! *****Need to bring flyer or pull up flyer attachment on smart phone to present at restaurant in order for PTA to receive 15% of your meal’s total. Carnival – More volunteers NEEDED! Need 40 people per shift. o Coordinate for next year? Need a volunteer. o Look for PTA ‘Chair sign-up flyers’ at Carnival! Chairs to recruit for next year – areas where volunteers are needed: Jr Achievement, Art Adventure, Carnival Coordinator, PTA Productions, Book Fair Chair Secretary’s Report – Nicole Kendall – February Minutes Approved Treasurer’s Report – Carla Albrecht Received $22.00 from Reach Out books – money still trickling in! Read-A-Thon made an estimate of $4500 so far! Way to go students and parents!! Annie Jr – Corporate sponsors have raised $830!! Vice President’s Report – Cathie Voth Annie Jr. - rehearsals are going well and everyone has been through the scenes at least once and all production will be gone through before the end of break All props have been received. Culvers Night! April 9th – 5:00-7:30pm – Annie Jr Cast and Fundraiser! Cast & Crew party will be at Central Middle School cafeteria immediately after the last Annie Jr. performance- Donatelli’s is sponsoring our entire cast and crew! -Cast and Crew party will be Sunday, April 28th from 4-6 pm – watch for details! Enrichment Report – Pamela Johnstone Art Adventure – examples of what is taught in the classrooms with this program: 3-D hand drawings, Clay sculptures, pushpin ornaments Junior Achievement is currently getting on the schedule for all classrooms. Principal’s Report – Dan Schmidt MCA Assessments – Begin in April – all testing will be online. Grade 3 to begin YMCA Swimming sessions beginning March 18th. Intervention Update – We will once again have a full-time Reading Corps tutor for next year – they will work 1 on 1 with students for 20 minutes daily. Also, we will receive a half time Math Corps tutor for next year! Spring Safety Drills – Drills for severe Weather, safety and fire will start up in March and April. Schoology Parent Sign Up! Please sign up for Schoology so you are able to get classroom and school updates online. If you have any issues please contact Abby Kath at abby.kath@isd624.org Special Guest George Kimball – School Board Member White Bear Lake School district Approved Full Day Free Kindergarten starting in 2013! White Bear Lake made sure there was enough funding to provide this and was consistent with strategic planning. Staffing at Lincoln will stay the same with 2 full day classrooms and 1 half day option still available – a survey indicated that 80% of people wanted full days and 19% wanted half days.
