CENTER FOR STUDENT PROGRESS ORIENTATION/FIRST-YEAR STUDENT SERVICES 2015-2016 PEER MENTOR ~ EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION What do Peer Mentors do at Orientation? During Orientation sessions, Peer Mentors make themselves available to students and guests to answer questions, discuss life at YSU, and get students connected to YSU. In a typical session, Peer Mentors will have a small group meeting to discuss the transition to college life, highlight campus resources, and show students around campus. Peer Mentors will also assist students in the course registration process based on information given to the student by academic advisors. Sessions are exciting and busy days that allow Peer Mentors to share what they love about their university and to make others feel welcome here. What do Peer Mentors do during the Fall and Spring Semester? During the fall and spring semester, Peer Mentors will be working with the students whom they met at Orientation and students whom attended Early-SOAR (March). Peer Mentors answer questions and provide support in connecting to the appropriate offices such as Financial Aid, Advising, One Stop and Career Services.
