SPEECH OF PERSUASION
NPHS - Public Speaking – Formal Speech #2
Topic: You will choose an issue about which you have strong feelings. This issue must be one
that is conducive to persuasive appeal. There must be more than one side to the argument.
Speech: Your speech will be a 3-5 minute formal speech aimed to persuade your audience to
agree with your side of the issue being discussed.

Optional:
Visual Component (Power Point, Images, Video Clip, etc).
While this is not a requirement, it can significantly enhance your ability to persuade in a
visual, 21st century world. However, using visuals ineffectively can also detract from your
effectiveness. We will discuss at length how to effective incorporate visual components.

topic and how much do you know about it?
EXAMINE – What is the opposing stance on
this issue? If your audience potentially
disagrees with your stance and agrees with
the other, how will you address their
thoughts/ concerns?
