Job Summary:
CNPC USA is actively seeking creative, innovative, best-in-class experts to join our growing team. This is a unique
opportunity for an experienced geophysicist. The right candidate will be responsible for locating and defining
subsurface conditions that are favorable for the accumulation of oil and natural gas . and will be in on the ground
floor of an exciting new venture backed by CNPC. This position is located in Beijing, China
Responsibilities:











Performs all geophysical assignments under general supervision.
Evaluates geophysical acquisition parameters necessary for imaging target horizons within specific plays.
Analyzes geophysical data including seismic velocity, inversion and AVO.
Analyzes pre-stock gathers and modeling related to elastic rock properties.
Conducts 3-D visualization and interpretation.
Conducts Petrophysical analysis with emphasis on seismic-related rock properties.
Proposes well locations and laterals based on integrated interpretation.
Develops an understanding of basic drilling and completion technology and equipment.
Develops an understanding to lease acquisition division of interest, and separation of surfaces and
subsurfaces rights.
Develops knowledge of basic well/prospect/project economics, risk analysis, and cost vs. value technical
data.
Conducts all business activities in agreement with CNPC USA core values.
Key Skills:








Demonstrated ability to deliver on time, on target, with quality and sustainability.
Working knowledge of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria used in carrying out a sequence of
geophysical tasks.
Working knowledge of seismic acquisition and processing. Basic understanding of seismic stratigraphy.
Demonstrated ability to incorporate horizontal workflow procedures.
Proficient with geophysical database and mapping software.
Proficient at forward modeling to enhance stratigraphic understanding.
Proven and demonstrates superior skills in multi-tasking, team-working and communication.
Knowledge of 2D/3D processing oversight.

Qualifications:




BS degree in Geophysics; advanced degree a plus.
Minimum 5 years seismic interpretation experience.
Willing to relocate to Beijing.
Fluent in English.
