Job Summary: CNPC USA is actively seeking creative, innovative, best-in-class experts to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Geologist. The right candidate will be responsible for identifying new exploration opportunities and will be in on the ground floor of an exciting new venture backed by CNPC. This position is located in Beijing, China. Responsibilities: Work as a member of an integrated team of geologists, engineers, and geophysicists, to develop new drilling opportunities and a strategic exploration/exploitation business plan to capture these opportunities and add value. Identify, evaluate, and create a risked inventory of exploration and exploitation prospects. Generate prospects; engage in play generation, prospect evaluation and screening of externally generated prospects. Integrate core data, well log, petrophysical analysis, and geophysical data to generate structure maps, isopach maps, net pay maps, and detailed cross sections with the goal of identifying areas that are most promising for development. Create geological models and perform stratigraphic studies to define facies. Perform scoping analysis of exploitation targets including estimation of gas in place are apt to exhibit high natural fracture density and/or favorable drilling locations. Support reserve documentation. Mentor less experienced geoscientists and team members. Develop knowledge of basic well/prospect/project economics, risk analysis, and cost vs. value technical data. Conduct all business activities in agreement with CNPC USA core values. Key Skills: Fully competent in standard techniques, procedures, and criteria used in carrying out a sequence of geological tasks. Proven track record of generating prospects and discovering hydrocarbons . Experience in integrating core, well log, geophysical, petrophysical, production, and engineering data into a coherent framework. Proficient in all aspects of drilling, completing, and well operations, with a robust experience in drilling successful vertical, horizontal, and deviated wells. Familiarity with basic and advanced logging tools, planning, acquisition, and interpretation. Conduct structural and stratigraphic analyses with geologic and geophysical data, including seismic attributes, to define and constrain the geometry of traps. Experienced in reserve estimation and evaluation of prospect economics. Ability to contribute effectively and creatively as an individual and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to deliver on time, on target, with quality and sustainability. Qualifications: Master's degree in Geology or related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Geology, Geoscience, field petroleum exploration and/or development. Must be willing to relocate to Beijing. Fluent in English.
