Responsibilities:
• Ensures that the work complies with the requirements of the specification and relevant
codes and standards
• Checks materials delivered to the site for compliance with contract requirements.
• Orders laboratory testing of materials as required by the specification and relevant
standards. Record and review results. Order removal of non compliant materials.
• Witnesses on site testing of materials, record results, and order the removal and
replacement of non compliant materials, (e.g. slump tests on concrete, compaction tests on

• Ensures that the contractors approved shop drawings, method statements, quality control
procedures and safety plans are being implemented on site.
• Checks that requirement of other disciplines are coordinated and incorporated in the
civil/structural works.
• Monitors the structure which is being constructed, any adjacent structures which may be
affected by construction activities and temporary structures, for any problems related to
accidental damage, safety and/or stability. Alert the Resident Engineer immediately if any
problems become apparent.
