A front page news article that provides an overview of Ancient Egyptian civilization written in the plot formula (first, next, then, last) that covers the initial settlement of Egypt (c. 3000 BCE) up to the Roman conquest in 31 BCE. 2. An obituary that documents the major life events of an Egyptian pharaoh of your choosing. 3. A current event article on Africa (following the same directions for current events as last time) 4. A book review on The Other Side of Truth (same format as the Summer Book Review Project) Your Newspaper must include at least two sections of your choosing: 1. A letter to the editor from the point of view of one of the following: A peasant farmer, wealthy elite, pharaoh, or foreign visitor to Ancient Egypt that voice concerns about a problem they might have. 2. A news article that highlights the major aspects of Ancient Egyptian religion. 3. A political cartoon that illustrates a social issue that affected Ancient Egypt. 4. A sports section that explains some of the recreational sports Ancient Egyptians participated in. 5. A business section that describes the economic activities of Ancient Egypt. 6. A technology section that highlights important Ancient Egyptian inventions or discoveries. In both classes, you will have time in the computer labs to conduct research and write your articles as well as class time to write articles. You will receive classwork grades based on participation and appropriate use of class time while in the computer lab. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. You must include parenthetical citations and Works Cited page that follows the MLA format. A minimum of seven reputable sources should be used. All final articles must be typed and arranged in the newspaper template that has been provided to you. Your work should reflect original thinking and demonstrate an appropriate understanding of both the factual content of Ancient Egypt and the use of plot.
