General Education Requirements
The USU Experience: USU students will have the opportunity to complete their Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degrees in an
educationally enriching environment in courses that are held 8 weeks long in duration. USU offers both on-ground,
hybrid, and online courses, making it easy for students to work and carry out life activities successfully while in school.
General Education: The general education program is organized into ten subject areas of communication skills, critical
thinking, sciences, mathematics, arts and humanities, social sciences, history, cultural studies, information literacy, and
international and language studies. The purpose of general education is to provide a common educational experience for
students, regardless of major field of study. The faculty is committed to ensuring that the general education program
cultivates knowledge, skills, and values with a breadth that is characteristic of a learned person.
General Transfer Information: Each transfer course must be completed with a “C-” grade or better. United States
University will accept IGETC or CSU GE for general education pattern. Only 57 semester credits of GE are
required at USU. GE credits are given as a range to provide more flexibility and options for students.
