MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB Responsible for strategically managing, developing and expanding our maternal and child health portfolio of programming, with a specific emphasis on diversifying growth in institutional funding for this core area of work. 2. POSITION IN ORGANISATION Reports to the Head of Programmes and Projects Cooperates with rest of the Programmes and Projects department Collaborates closely with partners and SP international field offices Coordinates closely with international SP offices: IHQ Regional Directors, Regional Managers, Program Development Division and Affiliate Office staff and other SP departments in the UK office 3. SCOPE OF JOB Programme Development o Expansion and diversification of institutional funding programme reach and impact through strategic donor liaison, networking, creative opportunity-building and effective proposal development in collaboration with field partners o Documentation of key organizational learning through MCH programming, including publication of evidence-based learning, results and recommendations. Partner Support and Programme Management o Capacity-building support to field partners implementing MCH programming o Lesson-learning and programme improvement through regular structured monitoring and evaluation and MCH best-practice roll-out across organization o Oversight of full donor reporting for institutionally-funded projects Networking, Liaison and Administration o Engagement with key strategic partners, existing and new donor prospects o Building awareness and commitment towards MCH programme and overseas strategy with staff, volunteers, supporters, partners and donors in the UK _____________________________________________________________________ 4. DIMENSIONS & LIMITS OF AUTHORITY Manages budgets within this programme portfolio, upwards of £600,000 p.a. Liaises closely with and represents SPUK to key strategic donors and partners, including the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID) Represents SPUK on international technical working groups in global SP structure and in external NGO/partner networks and forums Represents the organisation to churches, volunteers, supporters, partners and donors as required, including media promotion and publicity event 5. PROVEN ABILITY Job Description Expertise and proven programme management experience in MCH programming Expertise and proven background in the Institutional Fundraising sector Demonstrable success in diverse institutional fundraising relevant to the UK context Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with and win support of a broad cross-section of stakeholders Proven ability and experience in overseas relief and development required Good understanding of developmental principles required Knowledge, understanding and experience in managing project-specific and programmewide M+E systems, with proven use of such systems to implement learning for programme improvement Proven experience in people and project management Good understanding of cross-cultural issues required Strong administrative and computer skills, including ability to run spread-sheets, databases and maintain structured electronic filing systems Strong financial awareness and understanding of financial reporting Self-motivator with strong positive attitude and desire for continuous improvement Proven ability to be able to prioritise own workload Proven accuracy, attention-to-detail and ability to work to strict deadlines Theological understanding required, including commitment to Christ, discipleship, development and global mission Part 2: DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES JOB TITLE: Grants Programme Manager, Maternal and Child Health DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1 Programme Development 2 Partner Support and Programme Management 40% Responsible for driving organizational implementation of the institutional fundraising strategy and delivering on its objectives, as it relates to MCH programming Identifies, pursues and secures growth in donor funding and MCH programme expansion opportunities in liaison with international field partners Pursues and secures grants to diversify MCH funding portfolio across multiple donors/partners Develops institutional grant funding applications for new projects in response to donor Requests for Applications and unsolicited opportunities arising Documents key lessons learned through MCH programming and strategically publishes learning to showcase organizational work and create opportunities for further expansion, learning and partnership Develops organizational ‘niche’ in MCH programming through strategic institutional funding and internal portfolio investment Develops key strategic relationships with target donors and partner organizations for the purpose of improving institutional knowledge and leveraging funds to implement organizational programming strategy Leads in the development and implementation of SP UK programme policy, strategy and standards on MCH programming and institutional fundraising, including capacitybuilding of staff Responsible for developing and maintaining best practice documentation, up-to-date engagement in policy, practice and knowledge in the area of MCH programming and institutional fundraising Responsible for the effective management and development of existing MCH programme portfolio Provides capacity-building support to international field partners implementing MCH projects to ensure excellence in programme delivery 40% Job Description 4 Works with field partners to promote and document innovation and lessons learned, compiling best practice papers to highlight effectiveness and learning through MCH programming Ensures robust M+E systems are employed across MCH programme and rigorously executed and recorded to evidence results and impact for learning Provides financial oversight, budget management and grant disbursement schedules for existing MCH projects Provides regular donor reporting for existing MCH projects, ensuring full organizational adherence to SPUK and donor guidelines, requirements and governance regulations Networking, Liaison and Administration Establishes and maintains personal contacts with donor officials in order to optimize opportunities for partnership and to influence donor policies, strategy and programming Represents SP UK in engaging with and actively participating in relevant NGO, donor and/or government networks to stay abreast of developments/legislation affecting this role and its responsibilities Coordinates closely with international SP offices and represents SP UK on international technical working groups with colleagues: IHQ Regional Directors, Regional Managers, Program Development Unit and Affiliate Office staff Collaborates closely with SP UK departments: International OCC, Donor Ministries, Domestic OCC, Finance, Fundraising, Marketing and Communications, and HR to facilitate effective programme delivery Contributes to the organising and delivery of inter-departmental team building and training initiatives, including staff away days, SP conferences and training days Any other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Programmes and Projects 20%
