Purpose of the Consultancy Under the general guidance of the Chief, CSD Section, the Nutrition Specialist will be responsible for the development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Nutrition component of the CSD programme. The incumbent will lead and support the overall coordination and management of the design and implementation of the National Nutrition Ethnographic Survey, National nutrition strategic plan, Nutritional sentinel surveillance system, IYCF and CMAM activities in at least 2 focus provinces (Huila and Namibe) and the 11 drought affected provinces. 2. Work Assignment Overview Tasks Provide management and technical leadership oversight of the Nutrition interventions in the GOJ-UNICEF grant and emergency drought response programme in Namibe Province. Support the strengthening of the Nutritional Sentinel surveillance system in all 18 provinces Work in collaboration with the relevant Ministries, NGOs, and development partners to design and supervise the conduct of a National IDD and nutrition ethnographic survey in 18 provinces. Work with national partners and key NGO stakeholders to support the capacity building and expansion and scale up of IYCF and CMAM implementation in 11 drought affected provinces and municipalities; Provide regular inputs to the funding proposals, reports, including Nutridash and CSD scorecard. 1 3. Minimum Qualifications required Advanced university degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Public Health & Nutrition, Health Sciences, International Health & Nutrition, Public Health & Nutrition Policy and Management , Family Health & Nutrition, Nutritional Epidemiology, Health & Nutrition Education, Health & Nutrition Promotion and Disease Prevention or other relevant discipline(s) 4. Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required The candidate should demonstrate that he/she meets the following requirements: Translate strategic direction into plans and objectives; Analyses and integrates diverse and complex quantitative and qualitative data from a wide range of sources; Has good leadership and supervisory skills; co-ordinates group activities, ensuring that roles within the team are clear; Experience in monitoring gender inequalities and in programming interventions that reduce these inequalities an asset; Set high standards for quality of work and consistently achieves project goals; Quickly builds rapport with individuals and groups; maintains an effective network of individuals across organizational departments; Identify urgent and potentially difficult decisions and acts on them promptly; initiates and generates team-and department-wide activities; Demonstrate, apply and share expert technical knowledge across the organization; Working knowledge of the Portuguese language or any language from the same group of language (Spanish, French, Italian), i.e. ability to communicate with counterparts and partners.
