Course Description: This is an introductory class for photography. This course will help students become
well rounded in the fundamentals of photography. We will study and practice using photography as fine art,
as photojournalism, as a means of expression, and research careers that use photography.
Class Rules in addition to the code of conduct:
Be respectful to your faculty & staff, your peers, and yourself!
Handle all materials with care and respect.*
Be prepared each and every day.
Be creative!!!
*Any student found mishandling the classroom equipment resulting in damages will be held
accountable for payment of repairs or replacement.
Consequences:
Strike one: verbal warning and sign the discipline book.
Strike two: verbal warning, sign the discipline book, and parent/guardian contact.
Strike three: isolation/after school detention/office referral.*
*The teacher reserves the right to refer the student directly to the office.
Art Fees: There is a required art fee of $25 for the school year. Art fees provide the students with proper
art supplies and materials for each project. If you choose to not pay the art fee, you will not be able to
graduate your senior year or be granted permission to take further art classes.

To foster a consistent, equitable method of classroom assessment, Helena High School teachers will implement the
following categorical grading plan:
GOLD GRADES = Major tests and work products / projects and will comprise 60% of a student’s grade;
SILVER GRADES = Quizzes and secondary assignments and will comprise 30% of a student’s grade;
BRONZE GRADES = Homework and minor classwork and will comprise 10% of a student’s grade.
