Snapshot – Brian M Rosa, Co-Founder BE New Organic World, LLC 810.252.8303 cell 919.732.8196 office b@beneworganicworld.com www.beneworganicworld.com Brian has been in the recycling and composting industry for over 20 years. His solid waste career started at the grass roots level when he saw the need for recycling in his community in the early 1980’s. After spearheading a county-wide initiative to implement recycling and actively working on the state’s (Michigan) yard waste ban, he focused his energies on backyard composting. With the yard waste ban in place in over 27 states, Brian recognized composting was going to be an opportunity to divert 40% - 60% of the waste stream from the landfill! Over the next ten years, Brian owned and operated a business -Earth Supply and Consulting Services- that concentrated on providing backyard composting bin distribution programs throughout the Midwest. In that period, distributed over 100,000 compost bins, provided hundreds of educational program and worked with communities in 12 different states. Along with backyard composting, ESC Services introduced vermi-composting across the Midwest. I designed and installed several largescale, onsite Vermi/food composting systems, as well as provided hundreds of vermicomposting bins for households and schools. ESC Services acted as the US national distributor for “The Original Vermitech System and set up several projects, including Arnold Air Force Base in Tellehoma, TN, Traverse County Municipal Building, MI, College of DuPage, IL. Along with these projects; Brian designed, built and sold his own flow through vermi digester. ESC Services was one of the first distributors of compost tea equipment and worm castings for the tea brewing industry in the Midwest. In 2003, Brian accepted a position with NC DENR as the Organic Recycling Specialist. This allowed him to continue to develop food diversion programs throughout NC. While working for NC DENR, Brian continued to offer independent consulting services outside the state of NC in all aspects of composting and vermi-composting. Speaking engagements, workshops, large scale waste audits and equipment installation for hotels, restaurants and universities; are consistent sources of gratification. One really memorable project is a Puerto Rico Zoo, where 330 lbs. of manure are composted daily ---and all from only one healthy elephant!
