Lesson Plan: Theodore Roosevelt and International Affairs. SOL: USII: 6.3: The student will describe and analyze the changing role of the United States in world affairs between 1898 and 1930, with emphasis on -The Panama Canal -Teddy Roosevelt Objective: The student will be able to fill out a notetaker and use the information to complete the worksheets about Teddy Roosevelt in groups, displaying what they learned about Teddy Roosevelt and what the U.S. did in regards to international affairs. Materials: 1. 2. 3. 4. Teddy Roosevelt power point Note takers Teddy Roosevelt videos Four folders with directions on cover with worksheets inside Activities: 1. Students will enter the classroom, copy the homework down in their agendas and complete the daily geography lesson on the overheard. Teacher will go around and check that the students have copied the homework. (5-10 minutes) 2. Call class to attention; go over the exercises as a class and having them point out the locations on the smart board, give students time to make corrections, start ten-second countdown so they can return their folders to bin. (5-10 minutes) 3. Pull up PowerPoint on the smart board, explain information on slides and have students fill in note takers, show video on power point (10-15 minutes) 4. Break class into groups and pass out folders with papers and directions. Each person in a group should take one paper from the folder and follow the directions on the top of the folder. Students should use their notes from the PowerPoint to help them complete the papers. After fifteen minutes, the groups will rotate. (1 hour) Evaluation: 1. The students will complete the worksheets with correct answers in groups using their notetakers.
