Third Round Play Suspended at Ontario Junior Boys’
Windsor, ON: As a result of two significant weather delay the third round of the Investors Group
Ontario Junior Boys’ Championship was suspended due to darkness on Thursday night with 21
golfers still to complete their rounds at Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor.
Despite having five more holes to finish off his third round Nicholas Ross of Dundas has a the lead
at seven under par for the week. The Co-leader after the second round, Ross got off to a torrid
start with two birdies in his first three holes on Thursday afternoon. The 18 year old added another
birdie at the par five 7th hole to make the turn at three under for his round and in the driver’s
seat. Four straight pars on the back nine gave him a comfortable lead heading into Friday.
Josh Whalen of Napanee continued his strong play on Thursday and positioned himself in
second place at two under par with five holes remaining in his third round of the Championship.
Whalen recovered from a double bogey on the twelfth hole with a birdie on his last hole of the
day (13th) to get back even for round.
Second round co-leaders Joey Kremer of Don Mills and Ryan Borg of Brampton sit in a tie for third
at one under par. Both got off to rocky starts in round three but will look to get back some strokes
back in their final five holes on Friday morning.
The third round was suspended three times on Thursday, twice due to lightning and then finally
darkness at 8:55pm. Players will return to finish their third round on Friday morning at 7:15am.
Players will not be reseeded for the fourth and final round which is scheduled to begin at 8:00am
off both the first and tenth tee. Ross’ group will tee off at 9:40am off the first tee.
The Investors Group Ontario Junior Boys’ Championship is open to male golfer eighteen years of
age or less. The 72-hole Championship will conclude on Friday afternoon with the presentation
of the gold, silver and bronze medals and the Lady Eaton trophy to the champions.
