Dear parents and guardians,
We are coming to the end of a hectic couple of weeks at Millidgeville North School. Thanks are extended to our
MNS family for the wonderful support we received from the community following the death of Mme. Arseneau.
As our school year begins each September, we as other schools in the province are required to submit our
opening enrollment numbers to our District Office. These numbers are then reviewed by District officials and
decisions are made in regards to staffing of schools and the classroom make up of schools.
The numbers that we have submitted have been reviewed and we have been informed that we are required to
create a split class at the Grade 3-4 level and we have added a Grade 6 Homeroom. Each year when we work
towards the placement of students within perspective classroom assignments, we look at the possibilities of
students being placed in a combined class. These decisions are based upon our professional observations and
reflections of students’ abilities. Combined classes occur throughout our District and are wonderful learning
environments for students, exposing them to a wide variety of curriculum objectives and opportunities in a
multi-age learning environment. Students who are affected by these changes have been informed and letters
have been sent home with the children today.
We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Sarah Ackroyed who is familiar with our students will be teaching the
grade 3-4 split class and Mr. Patrick Whitaker will join our Middle School Team with a Grade 6 English
Homeroom. Students in these classes will receive As many of you are aware, Mrs. Sonya Fox and her family
have relocated to Alberta this week. We wish her the best in this new adventure. Mrs. Sara MacKenzie will take
over Mrs. Fox’s teaching assignment starting Monday, Sept 15th. Mrs. Mackenzie will be a tremendous asset to
the teaching staff at Millidgeville North and we extend a warm welcome on behalf of the staff and students.
Mrs. Mary Ann Scammell has accepted the Grade 6 FI & PIF position. We will be a hiring a.2fte Physical
Education specialist in the near future as well.
-Elementary lunch orders are now being accepted a week in advance. Orders will need to be submitted on
