ASSOCIATES OF READING David Quinter is not only an associate but he is also a volunteer in Mission for our Congregation. At St. Anthony’s Parish Dave is involved in being an usher, a sacristan, and he helps with the Youth Group. You can call him a “Johnny on the spot” when we need transportation to the airport to pick up someone to or from the Dominican Republic. He has volunteered his services to the Dominican Republic, Kentucky, and wherever else he is needed. Judy Bohler has been in Administrative work at Alvernia for many years. She has been a volunteer in mission to the Dominican Republic many times and continues to offer her gifts and talents where she is needed. Maggie Delp is the sweetheart of St. Joseph Villa, the care center for our Sisters. She has been our Activity Director for over 10 years. I would call her “our angel” for if you ever need something Maggie is there to get it done. Maggie goes over and above her job taking sisters shopping, to outings, to ice cream parlors, and for rides in the country to see God’s beauty all around. Lorraine Asgria is a new member from St. Anthony’s parish. She wants to learn more about St. Francis and his charism as well as to deepen her own prayer life. She volunteers at the food pantry in Reading several days a week. Jack Rule and Mary Rule are members of St. Anthony’s Parish for many years. They are involved in their parish with fundraising, and assisting the needs of the church. Cheryl Moore is a nurse who gives her time to visiting the sick, to give them comfort. Abra Atsutse is one of our newest members and comes to us from Africa. She has been here for only a few years and her English is great. Abra is an aide for the Sisters at St. Joseph Villa. Her gentleness and soft-spoken words are a great comfort to every sister she attends. She gave birth to a little girl on December 30, 2013 and named her Gabriella Francesca a very strong and beautiful name. Rita Tamalavage is a retired teacher, having taught for 40 years. She had also been a volunteer church choir director and organist for about the same amount of time. Since Rita grew up in the proximity of her parish church and school, she became involved in many “church cleaning” projects, CCD teaching, and Knights of Lithuania heritage events. She had a unique experience in 1984 while participating in a pilgrimage to Rome. As a member of the Knights of Lithuania, she had an audience with Pope John Paul II and also received communion from his hand during a special Vatican Mass to honor St. Casimir. It made her feel very connected to the apostolic church. Through the invitation of her sister, Ann Marie Keyes, Rita joined the BFS Associates. For them the spiritual journey to God is always in progress. It is a delight having both Rita and her sister as associates.
