The Director, Advanced Analytics will be part of our corporate finance organization supporting our entire organization, critically important to Maxim’s product innovation. The Director, Advanced Analytics is a senior technical and managerial position, responsible for building and leading the Corporate Advanced Analytics team building, deploying and supporting predictive and prescriptive models using a wide variety of modeling techniques deployed across all business areas based on our business needs. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in delivering insight with strong grounding in analytical research. The candidate must also demonstrate strong management, recruiting and leadership capabilities with an ability to clearly communicate and present the team's overall charter and deliverables. The position requires a unique combination of strategic and tactical skills that will enable the successful candidate to significantly impact Maxim’s transformation and sustained profitable growth. Responsibilities Lead and provide direction to the Corporate Business Advanced Analytics team by setting the team goals, research agenda, authorizing projects based on the company and business unit priorities. Develop a team comprised primarily of analytics engineering, predictive analytics scientists, data modelers, and technical program management. Growing the team through direct employment and leveraging 3rdparty sourcing to meet growing demand is expected. Partner with the demand analytics team to incorporate the forecasts of predictive analytics into the existing strategic framework. Act as a key member in the development of new analytics products and strategies. Create a strategic framework that supports the development of algorithms that help develop, analyze, and validate predictive models, build recommender systems and evaluate the effectiveness of these systems. Guide research to help develop product business models, ideas, leverage new data sources, expand analytical techniques and support infrastructure. Evaluate research projects and explore new methodologies. Lead the analysis and understanding of business units using large scale Big Data. Effectively communicate and translate results to our executive leadership and business unit teams in appropriate business terms. Requirements Graduate-level or PhD in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics (or other quantitative field) or equivalent education/experience. Specialization/research focus in machine learning, forecasting, econometrics, simulation, data mining, Big Data Analytics, statistics or a related field highly desired. 15+ years of experience in developing recommendation systems, econometric models, predictive analytics algorithms, data mining, and/or building machine learning systems to solve large scale customer problems is required. Experience using Big Data scale systems and data is valuable. A results/delivery-oriented professional who effectively assesses modeling insight trade-offs and finds creative solutions to problems. Strong engineering process fundamentals in setting accurate delivery timelines and managing accordingly. Ability to match the best analytical methods to the variety of business opportunities and to use metrics to ensure only the very best analytics models are put into production. Excellent leadership skills and the ability to attract, motivate, train, develop and retain an international world-class team. The ideal candidate will network with peer groups in Engineering and Research forming a community of analytic modeling practitioners that share practices and leverage expertise across the enterprise. A demonstrated high level of analytical rigor and the ability to sift through significant amounts of information to isolate the essence of effective solutions that are meaningful to the product vision and strategies. A proven ability to successfully lead a diverse analytics team is essential. Demonstrated ability to drive results though teamwork with peers and collaboration with all stakeholders and members of the management team required. A confident peer influencer with strong communication skills (both oral & written) who quickly establishes credibility at all levels and can leverage the vision of the company internally and externally. A proven track record in a fast-paced, hands-on and highly intense environment within a global organization. A minimum requirement for this U.S. - based position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident or qualifying Asylee/ Refugee).
