By the end of the course, the students will be able to;
Course Objective
 identify the specific information and main ideas in any text,
 use vocabulary from readings in discussions, presentations and
other follow up activities,
 recognize basic language forms and patterns and use them to
express themselves both in spoken and written situations,
 communicate with reasonable accuracy in familiar contexts and
issues associated with politics and public administration,
 produce short texts to express their ideas both orally and in
written form meaningfully,
 develop strategies to deal with fear better and enhance self
confidence when speaking in public,
 improve use of eye contact, posture, gesture, use of notes and
voice,
 analyze the audience,
 choose and narrow down a topic,
 learn researching and gathering information,
 develop an outline and put a speech together to form the draft
of speech,
 apply step-by-step process of speech making and writing,
 start and end a speech effectively,
 construct transitions effectively in a speech,
 use audio and visual aids effectively to enhance the impact of
presentations and keep listeners interested,
More specifically, by the end of the course, the students will be able to:

read a text and identify main ideas and supporting details,
discuss on a topic and participate in the lessons actively,
participate in class discussions and activities,
use eye contact, other facial expressions, posture, gestures, and









movements,
practice applying general guidelines for using visual aids,
improve oral communication skills in different contexts by preparing
and delivering mini presentations
share information, ideas, and opinions orally,
view and critically evaluate numerous presentations (peer
presentations and recordings),
practise how to introduce and conclude a speech in an effective way,
apply the use of transitions in their speeches,
work on different types of speech,
deliver different types of speech,
record their speech to improve themselves through self-criticism.
KAM 432 will enhance students’ oral communication skills necessary in social
settings in their careers. To achieve this, the students are guided through the
principles of presentation skills by providing a variety of exercises, activities,
presentations, and assignments. Through this course the students will also be
enable to improve their self-confidence and make effective presentations.
Content
In this course, students are trained to deliver effective speeches for different
purposes. These purposes are achieved through a number of steps some of which
are organization of data, outlining, choosing appropriate techniques in presentation
& delivery for maximum impact, and the use of visual aids.
