QUALITY ASSURANCE LEAD Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) is a provincial crown corporation responsible for the maintenance and operations of the tolled bridges that span Halifax harbour, the Angus L. Macdonald and the A. Murray MacKay. HHB is embarking on its largest capital project since the MacKay Bridge opened in 1970 – the replacement of the suspended spans on the Macdonald Bridge, The Big Lift. Construction on-site will begin in 2015. HHB is hiring a Quality Assurance Lead for a three-year contract to work in the project management office (PMO). Reporting to the HHB Project Lead, the primary responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Lead include: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) Manage HHB's project quality management plan (QMP) and QA requirements Manage QA site audits (fabrication & erection sites) Administer HHB’s web-based quality management system (QMS) Monitor the contractor's quality control plan (QCP) Monitor inspections; non-conformance and preventative action reports to ensure that actions are taken by appropriate parties Monitor the contractors auditing as per the contractor’s QCP Schedule HHB’s inspections of work and materials with the contractor, as required by HHB Conduct PMO process audits and system reviews Identify and document deficiencies Resolve deficiencies and report status to the PMO manager 9) Conduct QA related meetings with PMO staff and other project stakeholders as required 10) Ensure all quality documentation and submittals are properly prepared, submitted and stored Secondary Responsibilities 1) 2) 3) 4) Monitor the contractor's environmental protection plan (EPP) Review progress billings Monitor closeout procedures Quality related project training Qualifications 1) 2) A minimum of five (5) years of quality assurance experience; structural steel experience in the construction industry is preferred Post-secondary education at the community college level or equivalent Document1(2) 3) 4) 5) Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and required ISO standards Ability to assume responsibility and to communicate effectively with others.
