Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Coordinator of Student Life
REPORTS TO: Associate Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
POSITION SUMMARY: The Coordinator of Student Life provides oversight and direction
for co-curricular and extracurricular programming including advising fraternity and sorority life,
the yearbook, orientation, and SPRUCE, a student-led healthy lifestyle advocacy group;
oversight for student organizations, coordination of all registered social parties adhering to
College policies, and works in conjunction with the Academic Director of the First Year
Experience coordinating Welcome Week and the First Year Seminar.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:







Oversee and direct fraternity and sorority life on campus including, but not limited to
advising Greek Council
Oversee and advise the Yearbook
Oversee and direct Orientation including supervising Orientation leaders
Advise SPRUCE, a student-led healthy lifestyle advocacy group
Provide oversight, guidance, and support for student organizations
Coordination of all registered social parties adhering to College policies
Works in conjunction with the Academic Director of the First Year Experience
coordinating Welcome Week and the First Year Seminar.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Adjudicate student disciplinary cases as directed by the Associate Provost for Student
Affairs and Dean of Students
Provide auxillary support to the Associate Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of
Students
Participate in and assist with other duties and assignments as directed
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
Responsible for the supervision of Orientation leaders, SPRUCE student leaders, Yearbook staff
EDUCATION:
Essential: Master’s Degree in Administration of Higher Education, Student Personnel
Administration, or Student Affairs field.
EXPERIENCE:
Essential: Experience working with college students in an advising capacity
Desirable: 1-3 years experience working in Student Affairs preferably with advising student
organizations and directing/coordinating Student Affairs programs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:







Exemplary public speaking skills
Strong organizational skills
Skilled in crisis management, conflict resolution and problem solving
Ability to work with diverse groups of students
Demonstrated commitment to educational excellence
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic mail
on multiple projects spontaneously
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Environment: Primarily working in an office setting. The noise level is quiet to
moderate. Requires transfer between buildings in outdoor weather conditions.
Physical Demands: Occasionally required to move equipment and supplies with a weight limit
not to exceed 50 lbs.
Sensory Attention: May experience eyestrain and occasional headaches from computer
utilization.
Mental Demands: May experience stress dealing with students who are sometimes experiencing
homesickness, stress, conflict; may also experience stressful situations with parents who have
concerns about their student.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Normal work day is Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM including one hour allocated for
lunch. Flexibility is needed to allow for periodic evening and weekend hours
