Zack Miller 1/28/13 Dr. Mowling “Dribbling a Basketball” – Digital Photography Assignment Proper way to dribble a basketball (Front angle of proper stance) As you can see in the picture, the proper way to dribble a basketball is to keep your head up at all times so you can scope out the playing field. Also, you need to maintain an athletic stance in order to maintain total control of the ball. And lastly, you want to dribble with your finger tips. (Side angle of proper stance) Cues you want to focus on while dribbling a basketball: Keep head up, maintain athletic stance, and fingertips. (Using fingertips) The main mistake people make is not using their fingertips. Not using your fingertips causes you to not have as much control with the ball. This picture shows you the correct way to use your fingertips when dribbling. (Using Palm – Incorrect way of dribbling) This is what you should NOT do when dribbling a basketball. Try to avoid using your palm. The main things we want to focus on are: Keeping head up, maintain an athletic stance, and use fingertips when dribbling. Focusing on these three cues will help you become a better ball handler.
