NEWSLETTER TO PARENTS – Thursday, 16 . july, 2015 th Dear Parents, KS2 results It is my pleasure to share with you our recent Y6 SATs results. We have done very well. The progress of our children in reading, writing and maths has been exceptional. 96% of children made 2 levels progress in mathematics (10% increase from last year) and 32% made more than 3 levels progress (15% increase). 100% of children made 2 levels progress in reading with a 33% increase in 3 levels progress. At 40% we are above national average. In writing 100% of children made 2 levels progress with 52% of children making 3 levels progress (this is a 27% increase). The pupils continue to work at above national average for level 4. There are a number of scripts that we are sending back to be re-marked and we can let you know the final results in September when these have been returned. KS1 results Our results in Y2 also show excellent increases with 100% of our children achieving level 2b+ and above in reading, writing and maths. At the high levels, our children are working at well above national average. In reception, our children continue to work at above national average. I would like to congratulate pupils, parents and staff who have made these results possible. They are important to us the school, to you the parents, and of course, to the individual pupils. We are proud of their achievement, especially their great progress! School Reports Thank you for your comments regarding your child’s report. Do remember to make an appointment to see your child’s class teacher, if you wish to do so, before the end of term. Leavers On Friday we say goodbye to our Year 6 pupils who are moving to Cheslyn Hay Sports and Community High School: Jacob Alexander, Alicia Baguley, Thomas Bloomer, Grace Butler, Porcia Butler, Daisy Crowe, Liam FoleyRowlands, Jack Forrest, Grace Hall, Ruby Hewitt, Jenson Hodges, Jake Ilsley, Amelia Johnson, Daniel Lloyd, Mia McLaughlin, Joseph Meese, Kira-Mae Murray, Libby Norris, Connor Owen, Mitchell Price, Katie Shaw, Michael Tranter, Dominic Truefitt, and Louie Ward. We wish them every happiness in their new schools. Friday, 17th. will be our Leavers Service which will begin at 1.30 p.m. in Church, followed by refreshments served back at school. We look forward to welcoming Year 6 parents and family. Goodbye We also say goodbye to Mrs. Dziegiel who has decided to take early retirement at the end of this school year. Mrs. Dziegiel has taught at Havergal for the past seventeen years and will be missed by both staff, parents and pupils. Mrs. Dziegiel has requested that, on her behalf, I thank you all for your support during her time at Havergal and has asked that I convey it has been a pleasure for her to teach your children. Sports News Years 3,4,5 and Year 6 have recently competed in an inter-school mini-Olympics. Congratulations to all who took part, it is extremely gratifying to note the enthusiasm and willingness to participate in all our sporting events by the children – well done to everyone. A special thank you to parents who have come along on all occasions and ‘voiced’ their support too! Friends of Havergal Summer Fair A great day was had by all!! I am pleased to report the magnificent sum of £1300 was raised! On behalf of all associated with Havergal, I would like to express our sincere thanks to the Friends of Havergal who have worked tirelessly to make this day such a success.
