Spelling Contract Week 1 Choose from Choices 1, 2, 3, and 4 for each day. When you complete an activity, mark and X through the box. Choose from the available choices for the day you are doing your homework. You can not do two activities from the same column in the same week. Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Choice 1 Divide your paper into 3 columns. 1) Copy your words into column 1 2) Write the word in column 2 and block outline the letters 3) Write the work in column 3 using your best cursive. Copy your words in your journal. Rewrite them dividing them into syllables. You must divide them correctly so you should use a dictionary to check your work. Ex. happy hap-py summer sum-mer Write your words in order of the number of letters, then reverse it. (Shortest words first, then longest words first) Create a word pyramid for your words. You can add two letters at a time. Ex. su suns sunshi sunshine Choice 2 Spell the words using letters you’ve cut from a magazine or newspaper. Write your words in two lists. The first list should be A to Z order. The second list should be Z to A order. Choice 3 Using a dictionary, find your words. In your journal, write the spelling word, the page number and the two guidewords from the top of the page. Example: Lone: pg 514, logelong *You do not have to write the definition. Write your list of words in your journal. Choose 10 of them and write an antonym, synonym, homograph or homonym for each one. Ex. Damp: synonym-wet 1) Write each word. 2) Circle short vowel sounds 3) Underline the long vowel sounds. 4) Cross out all of the silent letters 5) Circle all of the digraphs (a sound made by more than one letter. Ex. th, ch, sh) Write your words in order of the number of vowels, then reverse it. (Words with the fewest vowels go first, then words with the most vowels go first) Write your words in order of the number of consonants, then reverse it. (Words with the fewest consonants go first, then words with the most consonants go first) Combine two words at a time to make word crosses. H O SWIMMING E Choose 10 of your words to illustrate.. Write the word beside the illustration. Copy any unused words at the bottom of the page. Write your words in two colors, one color for vowels (a, e, i, o, u) one color for consonants. Write your words in one column. In the next column, scramble them. In the next column, unscramble them again.
