Fraction Spelling Make a table with three columns. In the first column, write this week’s spelling words. In the second column, write in fraction form the number of vowels in each word. Finally, in the last column, write in fraction form the number of consonants in each word. (Hint: you will need to know the total number of letters in each word before you can write the fractions.) Here is an example: Word because mixtures Vowels 4/7 3/8 Consonants 3/7 5/8 In the examples above, you need to count the number of letters in the word and that number becomes the denominator. Then you need to count the vowels in the word and that number becomes the numerator. In the example above, the word because has seven letters. Four of the letters are vowels, so 4/7 of the letters are vowels. Three of the letters are consonants, so 3/7 of the letters are consonants.
