1. I prepare this regional report as I enter my second year as the President of the NE Region.
Our region has struggled with membership because of several factors such as the aging out of many members, districts cutting back on payment for membership, and the sheer size of our region which encompasses most of northeast PA and IUs 17, 18, and 19.
2. I have attached a copy of the unapproved minutes from our most recent meeting which was held in September at IU19 wherein we were presented a very informative lecture and discussion from member L. Colin Furneaux who is the Curriculum Director at the IU.
3. Our August meeting was held at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre and was hosted by member and Secretary Sunny Weiland, PhD.
4. Our October meeting is a breakfast seminar being held at the Hilton in Scranton and being advertised as a session with PDE Consultant Dr. Jean Dyszel.
5. I have a meeting on 10 October with Mike Pawlik from IU 17 in an attempt to continue to reach out to our membership.
6. Our November meeting will be held at IU18 in Kingston.
7. As you can see, Sunny and I are making a great attempt to take our meetings on the road in an attempt to encourage both attendance and membership.
