Come put your faith into action. This year, we will be holding our annual vigil on Saturday, October 3rd from 7am7pm at the New Planned Parenthood located at 2140 Babcock Road. This is a new location. We ask that if you could give just one hour of your time, please sign up at our table in the narthex over the next couple of weeks. THE DRAMA CLUB PRESENTS… – Many of the students of The Atonement Academy have been rehearsing for months for their autumn production: “Fiddler on the Roof,” which will be presented in Saint Anthony Hall on Friday and Saturday evening at 7pm on Oct. 16th and 17th. Fiddler on the Roof is based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Dairyman), a series of stories by Sholem Aleichem that he wrote in Yiddish between 1894 and 1914. Tevye, a poor Jewish milkman with five daughters, explains the customs of the Jews in the Russian shtetl of Anatevka in 1905, where their lives are as precarious as the perch of a ‘fiddler on a roof.’ Beginning in 1964, Fiddler played for 10 years straight on Broadway and is still one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history. ● The cast of the Drama Club of the Academy played to packed houses last year with their productions of Aladdin and The Sound of Music. Tickets go on sale next week! ● In the spring, the Drama Club will present the school-version of Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables, first published in 1862. It is the world’s longest-running musical playing on London’s West End, and has been seen by over 65 million people in 42 nations. The historical novel, set in France, begins in 1815 and culminates in the 1832 June Rebellion in Paris. You won’t want to miss it! Sunday, Oct. 18 at 4pm – Join us for Solemn Evensong sung by Musica Sacra of San Antonio. Olive Wood Sales – Mark your calendars for the return of the carved olive wood items from the Holy Land on Sunday, Oct. 25th after all the Masses.
