HEAD: Hammond’s Extends Brittle Offerings

Thinner than classic brittle pieces, Brittle Crisps were introduced during the Sweets
& Snacks Expo by Hammond’s Candies, LLC in six kosher and gluten-free varieties.
Andrew Schuman, company president and CEO, tells Candy & Snack TODAY the line has potential to add another 10 flavors to complement Hammond’s chocolate bar line. “The more variety you have, the better it merchandises,” he adds.
The line includes peanut brittle with dark chocolate drizzle, coconut and spice, jalapeño and lime, sea salt caramel drizzle, cashew brittle with cayenne pepper and walnut maple brittle. Packing in nine-ounce boxes with a SRP range of $3.99 to
$4.99, they ship in 12-ct displays.

HEAD: Puffed Bean Snacks Add Two Varieties

Hot Chili Lime and White Cheddar bean Puffs are being added to Beanitos Inc.’s line of snacks.
Made with navy beans and long grain rice flour, the company reports the products are low-glycemic, have five grams of protein and four grams of fiber in a one-ounce serving.
Mike Ellison, regional sales manager, told Candy & Snack TODAY at the Expo that the products are being very well received, “especially among consumers allergic to corn.”
Coming in three- and 0.7-ounce bags, they carry SRPs of $3.49 and $1.29, shipping in six- and 24-ct cases, respectively.

HEAD: Cool Blast Debuts To Counter Dip In Gum Sales

Initially chewy before dissolving, Ice Breakers Cool Blasts were developed as a solution to declining gum sales, according to The Hershey Co., which debuted the items during the Expo.
The items, which ship September 5, are available in peppermint and spearmint and pack in 0.80-ounce plastic slide packs with a SRP of $1.99. They ship in dual-flavor
48-ct counter displays, 108-ct shippers and 48-ct power wings.

HEAD: Fruit Pieces Have Dove Dark Chocolate

Combining real fruit pieces and dark chocolate, Dove Whole Fruit Dipped In Dark
Chocolate were revealed on the Mars Chocolate North America booth during the
Expo.
The company reports the items feature cherry, cranberry and blueberry varieties, the top selling fruits in the market.
Tim LeBel, vice-president of sales, told Candy & Snack TODAY the items will have a tiered rollout, with cranberry and blueberry being available in September, while cherry will be rolled out in January.
“This is a great product that really takes advantage of what consumers are looking for in quality, and the reclosable bags address another big trend right now,” LeBel added.
Packing in six-ounce standup bags with a SRP range of $3.59 to $4.79. In addition,
2.83-ounce standup bags will be released in January for the blueberry and cranberry items with a SRP range of $1.99 to $2.59.

HEAD: Herr Foods Debuts Vegetable Crisps

Baked Vegetable Crisps are being introduced under the Good Natured Selects brand from Herr Foods, Inc.
Made with carrots, bell peppers and spinach, the company claims the snacks have one half serving of vegetables per ounce.
Joining the line of Baked Sweet Potato Crisps and Baked Multigrain Crisps, the new item contains no artificial ingredients or preservatives and zero trans fat, in addition to being gluten free, according to Herr.
The snacks come in one-ounce packs with a SRP of 35 cents and ship 30 per case, while two-ounce bags carry a $1.29 SRP and ship in 25-ct cases. They are also available in 6.5-ounce packs with a $3.99 SRP, shipping in 12-ct cases.
