Character Analysis

 Character analysis is when you evaluate (assess) a character’s
traits, their role in the story, and the conflicts (problems) they
experience.
-Many times the author will describe what the character looks like,
their age, etc.
 Authors will also reveal character traits, which are a character’s
behaviors, motivation, personality types, and their relationships
with others throughout the story.
Example: shy, kind, helpful, etc.
Analyzing these factors (shy, kind, helpful, etc.) can help you begin to
better understand the character.
Oftentimes authors will not directly state these character traits. You
may have to be a careful reader to catch these character traits.
Example: Taylor’s emerald green eyes widened in excitement as she quickly tore
off the wrapping paper.
