Function: The Treasurer shall be responsible for: financial oversight - ensuring that record-keeping and accounts meet the obligations to funders or statutory bodies, so that the organisation complies with relevant legislation and that appropriate financial systems and controls, are in place; planning and preparing the annual budget for approval by the Committee of Management (in co-operation with senior staff) and then (with the Committee of Management) ensuring that the organisation operates within the budget as approved; banking, book keeping and record keeping (ensuring that a proper record is kept of all money received and payments made and that accounts are reconciled at least once per month); taking reasonable steps to ensure implementation of systems to prevent funds being stolen or misused; regular financial reporting to the Committee of Management, as well as to the Annual General Meeting; control of fixed assets and stock ensuring proper records are kept and that required insurances are in place (in consultation with senior staff); ensuring that the accounts are ready for audit each year. Tenure: Two years, renewable for two further terms (a maximum of six years). Responsibilities: The Treasurer shall: oversee the financial business of the association; attend Committee meetings and deliver a financial report; prepare an annual budget plan for the upcoming year, with the CEO and other Executive members; attend regular Executive meetings and report on the financial report and the annual budget; support major projects; maintain books of accounts in conjunction with senior staff (oversee professional maintenance); be responsible for all financial transactions; oversee staff employment arrangements, drafting of contracts, payments and other related issues; provide audited statement of annual accounts for AGM; consult with Business Manager for costing; undertake general duties outlined in the Committee of Management member job description.
