Community Cares! A weekly blog from the Rockland Community Foundation Celebrating activities that make a difference in the county we call home. Community Crisis Relief Fund Gets Help Where It Is Needed On this past Saturday afternoon, a fire raged through the Regency Village Garden Apartments in Spring Valley. While thankfully no one was seriously injured, 26 residents have been displaced, and apartments destroyed. Situations like this point to the need for countywide relief support, such as the Community Crisis Relief Fund established by the Rockland Community Foundation. As the umbrella non-profit organization for Rockland County, we connect donors with local causes that matter most to them. In times of crisis, we are the link between those who want to help, and those who are in need. Established in response to the devastation caused by super storm Sandy last year, the Crisis Relief Fund provided financial support to county non-profits and affected individuals. We at the Rockland Community Foundation worked diligently to raise awareness through local media channels about the importance of keeping donor dollars in Rockland County to support our friends and neighbors impacted by the storm. Both individuals and businesses reached into their pockets in support of the fund, which continues to provide support to Rocklanders in times of crisis. For the affected residents of Regency Village, their challenges are just beginning. Hopefully, we can be there to help. Please consider making a donation to the Community Crisis Relief Fund by visiting our website. 100% of your donation remains in Rockland, where it will be put to work providing assistance in times of crisis. Requests for assistance can be downloaded from the Foundation's website here.
