DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT SERVICES For Reference Only CLASS CODE: 3103 PAY GRADE: 008 CLASS TITLE: STATISTICAL AIDE I ALLOCATION FACTOR(S) This is varied clerical-statistical work performing standardized calculations for straight-line forecasting, making simple estimates, and tabulating statistics for use in statistical surveys, studies and/or reporting programs. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: (Note: The examples of work as listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. Examples of work performed are not to be used for allocation purposes.) Edits reports, schedules, or questionnaires for accuracy and completeness. Codes and sorts data in preparation for tabulating; tabulates data; and arranges data in tabular form. Prepares charts, graphs, diagrams, and other pictorial presentations of statistical data required for reports and publications; and constructs and revises statistical forms in accordance with the directions of the supervisor. Computes totals, subtotals, percentages, ratios, and other such basic computations and posts data to summary tables and reports. Performs standardized calculations for straight-line forecasting and for making simple estimates. Assembles statistical data from various sources including mail-in questionnaires and telephone surveys. Proofs statistical reports for mathematical accuracy. Compiles periodic reports; and assists in preparation and checking of reports and bulletins for publication. Performs related work as required. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to organize numerical data into logical format. Ability to prepare charts, graphs, diagrams and other pictorial representations of statistical data. Ability to code, sort and verify numerical data. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A high school diploma or its equivalent and one year of clerical-statistical experience. College education from an accredited institution or vocational/technical training can substitute at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter or 720 classroom hours for the required experience, provided such education includes one course in statistics or mathematics.
