Guidelines for Poster Presentation Competition
1. This poster presentation submission deadline is October 31, 2015.
2. You must create your poster presentation online using the template available on Aga Khan University
Examination Board’s website, examinationboard.aku.edu
3. Please submit your completed poster presentation by emailing us at akuebcompetition@aku.edu
4. Please do not change the original font style or the size of the template.
5. This poster presentation can be completed using text and/ or pictures.
6. Each section in the template has a word limit. You should try to stay within the word limits.
Poster Presentation Theme: When Ideas Flow Villages Grow
(The given poster presentation template outlines the various sections that need to be completed.)
Section 1: Introduction (Word Limit: 100-150 words)
To complete this section, please think on the following guiding questions/ statements:
a. 56 million people in Pakistan do not have access to any form of electricity according to the
estimates of International Energy Association (IEA). A large number of those without access to
electricity are based in rural areas.
b. What role does electricity play in our lives?
c. Is the national power generation system and the associated distribution companies like K-Electric
and PEPCO, the only way to provide electricity to the villages of Pakistan?
d. What do you know about renewable energy?
e. What challenges do villages face due to lack or limited supply of electricity?
Section 2: Off-grid Systems as an Alternate Source of Generating Electricity (Word Limit: 150-200 words)
To complete this section, you need to think on the following guiding questions/statements:
a. What is meant by off-grid systems?
b. Is generating electricity through off-grid systems a need for the villages of Pakistan? You should
be able to justify your stance.

c. Share one example in the context of rural areas in Pakistan where an off-grid system is
functioning and describe how it is benefiting the particular community.
Section 3: Data Collection (Word Limit: 100-150 words)
To complete this section, you need to refer to the following points:
a. Create and conduct a survey to help you find if people are aware about off-grid systems for
electricity generation.
b. Are they aware of the low electrification rates in rural areas?
c. Interview at least 20 participants in your school/neighbourhood.
d. Share your findings in a tabular form/ graphs.
e. Share the major learning points of your survey.
Section 4: Creating Awareness (Word Limit: 100-150 words)
To complete this section, you need to refer to the following points:
After understanding the importance about off-grid systems to generate electricity especially in rural areas
that are not connected to the national grid, list two-three measures that you can take to increase awareness
about the importance of off-grid systems for generating electricity.

To complete this section, you need to refer to the following points:
What impact did your awareness campaign have on your locality? Please consider the following points:

Did you learn anything new from your research??
