[ July, XX, 2014]- Marine Corps veteran and Executive Chairman of Lockheed Martin will be honored at the United States Navy Memorial’s 2014 Lone Sailor Award Dinner on Wednesday, September 17. The black tie gala will be held at the National Building Museum located at 401 F Street NW, Washington, D.C. Throughout his career, Robert Stevens has received recognition for his philanthropic and business achievements with the Lockheed Martin Corporation. Stevens was appointed the position of Executive Chairman in 2013, after serving as CEO from August 2004 through December 2012. Steven’s knowledge of the field and exemplary leadership skills has helped the exponential growth of the world biggest military contractor. A summa cum laude graduate of Slippery Rock University, Stevens also earned a master’s degree in engineering and management from the Polytechnic University of New York, and a master’s degree in business from Columbia University. Stevens entered the Marine Corps at the age of 18, and served for three years. Stevens currently is a Fellow of the American Astronauticcal Society, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Royal Aeronautical Society and the International Academy of Aeronautics. He was named an Honorary Fellow by the AIAA’s, highest honor, and in 2012 was appointed by Barack Obama to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations. The Lone Sailor Award is given to Sea Service veterans who have excelled with distinction in their perspective civilian careers while exemplifying the Navy core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment.
