CREATIVE WRITING MYTH PROJECT
DUE MONDAY DECEMBER 1
GOAL: Write your own myth and present it in “book” form.
You will be conceptualizing and writing your own myth. The finished product will be
a book-like presentation of the myth with creative embellishments such as cover,
illustrations, font, page decorations, etc.
CHECKLIST
Step 1: Class notes on characteristics of myths
Step 2: Proposal of basic concept of myth outlines with elements of literature
Step 3: Rough draft of myth
Step 4: Peer edit/review of myth
Step 5 by Nov 14: Conceptualize the book. Create thumbnails of the cover and
pages. Thumbnails are miniature sketches of the pages to help set up the layout. To
do this, you can get a piece of blank paper and fold it in fourths. In each quarter,
sketch the general look of a page. You can also do this on half pages.
It is VERY, VERY important to plan it all out before you start making it

Font & font size
Paper type
Cover material
Borders
Illustrations
What will be on each page
Step 6 by Nov 14: Final draft of the story.
Step 7 by Nov 14: Get all materials needed to construct the book.
Step 8 by Nov 21: Create and assemble the book
Step 9 Dec 1: Present the myth to the class
