Greek Myth Extravaganza!!
Due Date: 10/16– NEXT Tuesday – we will get school time to film
Assignment: With your chosen group (I don’t care about numbers), recreate either a dramatic or
humorous retelling of a Norse myth of your choosing. You can choose one off the board or one of your
own.
Length should be 3-5 minutesish – I don’t really care but just don’t make it too short or too long (does
that help?)
Costumes: Costumes are HIGHLY encouraged but they should be accurate to your setting. You can
modernize the myth. Dressing like a Viking might be challenging be just look up dress and don’t be
overly influenced from Greek dress.
Post films to YouTube or put it on a real disk or put it on a flash drive or …
First, find a group, find a myth, and start brainstorming. Discuss who has editing and filming skills and
technology. Discuss whether we need to film outside of school. Discuss costumes and such. Fake
weapons are okay but they MUST stay here. Drop them off before school and pick them up after. Have
fun! Embrace the Norse culture and storytelling. And be nice to people around you because I don’t
want this to be a social experiment with people not being able to find groups.
Rubric: This is not a film class or theater class but try!!
Propaganda Rubric:
50-46- Organized, good usage of time, professional, accurate to the myth, and entertaining while you
kept the spirit and the psychological theme of the story.
45-42- Organized, good usage of time, somewhat professional, somewhat well produced, accurate to
the myth, and entertaining while you kept the spirit and the psychological theme of the story.
-
The underline portions will be determined based off each individual performance
41-0 – Not really organized and poorly performed. Effort and analytical thought was not provided by
you to produce an accurate portrayal of the spirit of your myth.
