Mathematics Department Year 10H I Scheme of Work Main text book – Edexcel Mathematics A Linear Higher (Pearson) with its supporting worksheets for homework. The text book is on loan to pupils. Pupils must own a full Maths set and scientific calculator which should be brought to each lesson. This equipment can be provided for pupils if they require it for a charge. The 10H I class is the first of two set ability groups. Pupils are set after the summer test of Yr 9 or the September test (new pupils) Topics are taught from the GCSE Higher Tier syllabus with teachers differentiating (upwards & downwards) to support the very bright/weak pupils. Differentiation is supported by extension work in text books and work sheets. Number, Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, are the main assessment areas and these are visited once or twice a term . Within these areas there will be problem solving, functional skills and tasks requiring mental methods and the use of IT. Homework is given twice a week. Autumn Term Number First half term: Prime Factors. Indices. Fractions and Problem – Solving. Second half term: Decimals. Estimation and Rounding Off Algebra First half term: Sequences.
