For this project, you will research your assigned plate tectonics feature and the general category it belongs to in
order to become a class expert and teach your classmates about your feature. Complete this packet as you
research your feature. Your final product will be a poster with one additional piece. You will have a couple of
in-class work days, but much of the work and research will be outside of class. This project can be done
individually or with a partner. If you work with a partner, plan to meet with your partner during advisory,
lunch, SOS and/or outside of school.

• Images of feature
• Key pieces of information from your research

2. Additional piece. Choose one of the following:
• 3D model
• A three-dimensional model of your feature. Can be made out of clay, foam, paper, etc. Must be
detailed, labeled, and include all parts of the feature.
• Hands-on simulation
• This could be a mini-volcano, earthquake, tsunami, mountain building, trench/rift formation… the
possibilities are endless! Must be detailed and accurately mimic your feature.
• Video
• Video must be made by you and your partner, not found online.
• Other: If you would rather do a different additional piece, see the teacher for approval BEFORE starting.
