Title Introduction to Similarity Skill Making a Basic Argument EBA Activity Argument Soap Box Claim Similarity should be studied outside of the classroom and not inside of the classroom. Procedure This is a standard Argument Soapbox Activity. Timing/Pacing Before this lesson student will have learned how to write ratios. Students will have also learned about properties of proportions. After this lesson student will learn about identifying similar triangles as a preface to solving for parts of similar triangles. This activity will take 20 minutes. This activity will be in the middle of the lesson. Before this activity student will have learned how to identify similar figures. Students have also practiced solving problems involving scale factors. After this activity students can write a reflection on the Argument Soapbox activity and work independently on practice problems. Notes This activity should be used at the beginning of the unit on similarity, building purpose and require students to activate prior knowledge.
