PLEASE REMEMBER TO TURN OFF ALL CELL PHONES AND PAGERS. Remember to sign our guest book, please! THANKS TO ALL FOR ASCENSION DAY Thank you to all who were able to come worship Ascension Eve and support our shrimp boil. Special thanks go to Linda Philips for our shrimp sauce and cooking the shrimp; to Olive, Sharon and Anne for also cooking shrimp, and to Olive and Patti for setting up, and all who helped clean up afterwards. The choir, the Altar Guild, the Acolytes and the ushers made our worship all the more meaningful and glorious! BISHOP MORALES SAYS “THANK YOU!” Bishop Morales and Le Roy enjoyed being with us last Sunday, and fully appreciated the love and hospitality they received while with us. As you recall from his wonderful message, he’d love to see us all at the Synod in October this year! Thank you to the Acolytes, Altar Guild, Choir, Sarah, and all who made the worship and the brunch afterwards such a success. And thanks to Dee for arranging for the clubhouse at Coronada! ORDINATION AT CONCORDIA Our friends at Concordia will Ordain and institute as their new pastor Dr. Eric Phillips on Sunday, June1, at 3:00 p.m. Congratulations and thanks be to God! SUMMERTIME AND TRAVEL As we prepare to enjoy vacation travel this summer, let’s remember that God our Father doesn’t take a vacation. If you wish to check out ahead of time the churches in your vacation area, please let Fr. Guill know and he can help you find an Anglican Parish while you are traveling. In addition, remember that the Church’s obligations do not take a vacation either. Please continue your great financial support that you already have been giving to Our Lord. STAND UP FOR EASTER It is customary following an ancient tradition to stand during the consecratory prayer of the Mass during Easter Tide. This symbolizes our future state after the general resurrection through our sharing of Christ’s resurrection by our baptism. We stand not on our own merit, but on Christ’s victory. TRAVELING TO MIDDLE EARTH! We have begun another lecture series on J. R. R. R. Tolkien’s famous Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Tolkien was a philologist who studied Middle English, Norse and other European languages and mythologies, but he was also a Christian. Come hear of the hidden meanings behind these books, which, other than the Bible, sold more copies than any other books in the 20th Century. LEGAL DEFENSE FUND The Diocese has started a fund drive to help pay our attorneys who led our Diocese to a victory the Circuit Court in Adams County. To make a contribution, please make your check payable to the American Anglican Council and place “Quincy Defense Fund” in the memo line. Your gift is tax deductible. Please mail the check to: Mark Gamage, 3914 W. Crimson Rd, Dunlap, IL 61525. FLOWER SIGN-UPS We have the new 2013-14 sign-up sheet for flowers posted in the hallway by the Pastor’s Study. RECTOR’S DISCRETIONARY FUND Please remember that the open offering from the first Sunday of each month goes toward the Rector’s Discretionary Fund. Fr. Guill uses the majority of these funds to help parishioners and other families who are not members of St. Andrew’s to meet emergency financial needs. He is also authorized to use these funds to pay the costs of his legal and ecclesial seminars.
