The tundra is a land biome. It is located on the top and bottom of the earth. This biome has very cold winters, and cool summers. It gets only about 25cm of rain a year, and you will find polar bears, penguins, and seals. As for the plants, you will find shrubs, mosses & birch trees. Predation in this biome would be polar bears, and fish. The polar bears feed off the fish. Also, camouflage would be the polar bears white fur; it helps them blend in with snow. The taiga is also a land biome. It is found through Canada, and the middle of Europe. It gets nearly 80 cm of rain per year. You will find animals like moose, caribou, and eagles. As for the plants you will find evergreen trees, thug less furs, and spure trees. Most of the animals here will migrate to warmer places in the winter. Also adaptations are made; bird will get thicker feathers because it does get cold in the winter. The temperate forest is located in the eastern part of the U.S and in mid Europe. It is cold in the winter, and nice and warm in the summers. It gets about 100-150cm of rain per year. You will find animals such as squirrels, skunks, and deer. For the plants you will find things like, bushes and maple trees. Predator prey happens with wolves and deer. The wolves eat the deer. Skunks also adapt to predators by being able to spray them with stank. The tropical rainforest gets a lot of rain! Approximately, 200+ cm of rain. It is located near the equator. The temperature is humid and hot; you will find animals like vines, palm trees, and bushes. As for the animals, you will find things like toucans’, parrots, and panthers. An example of commensalism would be vermillads and frogs. The frogs get shelter from living underneath, and the vermillad isn’t affected. Another example would be the toucan dropping food from the trees for the ground animal, this is mutualism. The grasslands/ savannas are located in Africa. The climate is very hot and get only about 50-80cm of rain a year. The animals you will find here include giraffes, hippos, and lions. The plants you will find here would include grasses, weeds, and bushes. A lion urinating on a tree to mark it as their own is one example of territoriality. Mutualism would be birds eating bugs off the hippos head. The freshwater biomes are found in land. They are known as lakes, rivers, ponds, and swamps. Some of the plants you will find here are duckweed, lilipads, and algae. Some animals you will find here include ducks, toads, frogs, and insects. Commensalism takes place here, because the duck kicks up algae as he swims, so the fish can eat. Dragon flies use camouflage and they sit on the cat tails. The saltwater biome surrounds land. This includes oceans & seas. Plankton, seaweed, and algae are the type of plants you will find. For the animals you will find sharks, dolphins, and whales. The electrical eel is territoriality because he will shock those who try and enter. The whale and the remora fish is an example of mutualism in this biome.
