Arkansas Pharmacists Association
Sr. Director of Clinical & Professional Affairs
The Sr. Director of Clinical & Professional Affairs (SDC&PA) is responsible for overseeing
pharmacy affairs and clinical affairs areas of the Arkansas Pharmacists Association.
Additionally, the SDC&PA may oversee other departments within APA at the discretion of the
CEO. The SDC&PA must also be fluent in all areas of pharmacy practice and government
affairs issues that may affect the profession of pharmacy. The SDC&PA must build and maintain
strong member relationships and serves as a member resource to assist members in addressing
any pharmacy practice issue and third party issue that may arise. The SDC&PA must also
maintain relationships with decision makers within other healthcare organizations, regulatory
bodies and elected officials.
APA Mission: The mission of the Arkansas Pharmacists Association (APA) is to advance a
professional and business environment for our members to be successful and fulfilled in serving
patients.
APA Vision: It is the vision of the APA to be the voice of pharmacists as health care providers
in Arkansas.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications

BS in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy strongly preferred; post graduate residency a
plus; other highly relevant experience will also be considered;

Experience working within a pharmacy or pharmacy-related organization with relevant
experiences is a key asset;

Goal-oriented; Strong strategic thinker

Self-starter who is able to take direction and work towards an identified goal;

Collaborative personality who wants to be a part of a team required;

Strong knowledge of pharmacy/healthcare industry is required;

Excellent organizational and project management skills;

Excellent oral & written communications skills;

Highly motivated and creative;

Moderate amount of in-state travel is required;

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) required;

Strong social media knowledge (Facebook, Twitter, etc…) required;
Primary Duties

















Assist in the strategic planning of the APA;
Provide strategic pharmacy practice, clinical affairs and government affairs advice to the
CEO;
Oversee the pharmacy practice, clinical affairs, and continuing education areas within APA;
Provide oversight of other APA departments as assigned by the CEO;
Coordinate and develop all continuing pharmacy education programs for the APA, including
all CE program for the APA Annual Convention;
Look for funding opportunities that provide benefit to the APA membership and oversee the
administration of those funds;
Oversee the APA’s Pharmacist Immunization Program;
Represent the APA at stakeholder meetings;
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders within the profession, other healthcare
associations, regulatory and elected officials;
Serve as liaison to Arkansas schools of pharmacy;
Assist members with solving pharmacy practice, clinical practice, third party and other issues
within their practice;
Monitor state and federal legislation that may impact pharmacy;
Monitor regulatory changes that may impact pharmacy;
Provide content and editorial support for ARRx – The Arkansas Pharmacist, Executive
Update, InteRxActions, the APA Facebook page and www.arrx.org;
Serve as staff liaison to the APA Professional Affairs Committee;
Serve as a public figure to the membership and the media on behalf of the APA;
Other duties as directed by the CEO

Posted APA Office hours are 8:30 – 4:30 Monday through Friday. Occasionally, there will be
nights and/or weekends (such as during convention, board meetings, legislative receptions, etc.)
when you will be required to work after hours.
