Animal Shelter The Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter is a non-profit organization founded to improve the lives of Toccoa-Stephens County four-legged residents. The shelter is located at 1747 Scenic Drive (next to the old county jail) and is open 11:00 am – 6:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday. Call 706-282-3275 for more information. Stephens County and The City of Toccoa governments joined forces to construct the state of the art Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter for abandoned and neglected strays in the Toccoa-Stephens County area. Stray dogs and cats are kept for five days, or longer if room is available. We accept owner surrender of pets from Stephens County residents, we do ask owners for a donation to help provide for the animals that are surrendered to the shelter. Adoption fees include spay or neuter, FeLv testing for cats and Heartworm testing for dogs, deworming, vaccinations, flea treatment, heartworm preventative, rabies vaccination (if old enough), micro chipping and 30 day pet health insurance. The non-profit 501c3 organization provides a Humane Animal Shelter and Adoption Center serving the City of Toccoa and Stephens County. The shelter provides pet adoptions, information about low cost spay/neuter services, lost and found services, animal control sheltering of stray animals, educational programs and community outreach.
