The Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
July12, 2015
A beautiful story!!
Our 14-year old dog Abbey died last month. The day after
she passed away my 4-year old daughter Meredith was
crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She
asked if she could write a letter to God so that when Abbey
got to heaven, God would recognize her. So she dictated
these words:
Dear God, Will you please take care of my dog? Abbey
died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very
much. I’m happy that you let me have her as my dog even
though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She
likes to swim and play with balls. I am sending a picture of
her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog.
I really miss her.
Love, Meredith.
We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey
and Meredith, addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our
return address on it. Meredith pasted several stamps on the
front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of
stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven.
A few days later a package wrapped in gold paper arrived
on our front porch addressed, ‘To Meredith’ in unfamiliar
writing. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr.
Rogers called, ‘When a Pet Dies.’ Taped to the inside front
cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened
envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey
& Meredith and this note: Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived
safely in heaven having the picture was a big help and I
recognized her right way. Abbey isn’t sick anymore. Her
spirit is here with me just like she stays in your heart.
Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don’t need our
bodies in heaven, I don’t have any pockets to keep your
picture in so I’m sending it back to you in this little book
for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for
helping your write it and sending it to me. What a
wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for
you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I
love you very much. By the way, I’m easy to find.
I am wherever there is love.
Love, God

Jan 26, 1964 bulletin: Now for the coming parish project!
Our parish is 10 years old in June 1965 and our Church 8 years
old in December 1965. It is hoped to mark the birthdays with the
Installation of stained-glass windows and the completion of the
Stations and of the Sanctuary decoration. His Excellency, the
Bishop has given the required permission but on the conditions
that our debt retirement amount this year be the same as last year
and that we have made a good start on our fund for the completed
Church. An architect is preparing an estimate of the amount
required and further details will follow. But your generous help
is necessary if the project is to be realized. (As you can see the
generosity of the community gave the stations and
windows.)

Social Media for Parishes ??????
Do you blog, tweet, post, pin or like? Or do you have ideas
of how to reach out to others through social media and the
internet? This summer Rachel is working on a theological
question for her Masters program here at the parish. The
question focuses on how parishes can use 21st century
communication and technology to evangelize and connect
with members of their community. As a part of her research
she is need of some assistance. If you have background in
the field of communication or have an opinion about social
media and the Church please speak to Rachel 289-439-4497
or blessedsacramentyouth@hotmail.com. All comments
will aid in her research.
Blood Transfusions, donating blood, and donating
organs: It is a good thing to give of oneself for the sake of
the other (not to the point of doing serious damage to
themselves. Next weekend of July 18/19 Canadian Blood
Services will be set up in the Narthex if you would like any
information and hopefully you can sign up to arrange to go
and give blood at their clinic.
Important facts that you may not know about BLOOD.

•
On average, every 60 seconds someone in Canada
requires blood or blood components, and since blood
has a limited shelf life, demand is constant.
52% of Canadians have said they, or a family member,
have needed blood.
Less than 4% of eligible Canadians donate blood
We need 80,000+ new donors this year to keep up with
hospital demand.
There is no substitute for blood
Your blood is usually transfused into a patient within 5
days
When asked how they managed to stay together for 65
years, the woman replied. We were born in a time where
if something was broke, you fixed it…

Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in your Home
The Legion of Mary would love to
do the enthronement into your home.
It is a short ceremony of prayer,
committing yourself and your family
to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It takes
10-15 minutes and we give you a
beautiful picture of the Sacred Heart,
and the benefits will be plentiful. If
you would like us to come to your
home, put your name and phone
number and address in an envelope addressed to the Legion
of Mary. You can put the envelope into the collection on
Sunday or bring it to the parish office. Someone from the
Legion of Mary will contact you and set up a time to visit
your home. No refreshments required, and no fee accepted.
“When we sing, we pray twice.” Let us sing during Mass.
Right now the Adult and Youth choirs are all taking a welldeserved
summer
vacation.
Normally
there will be an
organist, but there may
be Masses when no
organist
will
be
available. Please SING loud and clear to praise the Lord,
whether with an organist or “a capella”. If you really can’t
sing, please take up the hymnbook and read the words, to
join that way in this sung prayer.

Six year old Angie, and her four-year old brother,
Joel, were sitting together in church. Joel giggled,
sand and talked out loud. Finally, his big sister had
had enough. ‘You’re not supposed to talk out loud
in church.” “Why? Who’s going to stop me?” Joel asked.
Angie pointed to the back of the church and said, ‘See those
two men standing by the door?
They’re hushers.”
