The Lyerly Town Council met for their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 8th, 2014 at Lyerly Town Hall. Those in
attendance were:
Josh Wyatt, Mayor
Ellen Wyatt
JULY 8th, 2014
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyatt at 7:00 pm.
Everyone welcomed by Mayor Wyatt.
New Business:
Financial Reports – No Discussion
Approval of Minutes – Mayor Wyatt tabled this until the next meeting because we did not have enough council
members present to make a quorum.
2013 Audit – Mayor Wyatt stated that we got the 2013 Audit back this week. All the council member have a copy of it in
their paperwork. He then said that the audit this time is a lot thicker than usual. That is because we had to do a different
kind of audit because we spent more than 1 million dollars in federal funds on our grants and it had to be a more
detailed audit. Mayor Wyatt then said that this was the only year that we would have to do this kind of audit.
Red Day – Mayor Wyatt said that Rec Day is scheduled for Saturday, July 12th. Everyone will meet at 10am at the Lyerly
School parking lot and we will start the parade from there and go to the park. At the park there will be hot dogs and
drinks and an inflatable water slide for the kids.
Down Home Day – Mayor Wyatt stated that Down Home Day has been set for Saturday, September 27th from 9-2. Ellen
Wyatt said that we are accepting applications. Mayor Wyatt said that we have to get the date fixed on the signs and the
banners.
The Mayor then stated that Ladd dropped off some plans today. The first is for the Caldwell Building that Mr. Caldwell
has been talking about donating to us. Mayor Wyatt said that we plan on making that a community center and he had
Larry draw up a floor plan. He then said that the building is in pretty bad shape. It needs a new roof and the inside will
probably have to be gutted. They drew it the way that it is laid out now with the exception that there will be a bay
window where the garage door is now. We would pour new concrete in front of it and putting a covered patio down the
side.
The second set of plans that they dropped off was for the kayak launch for the Recreational Trails Grant. Mayor Wyatt
said that the only thing that we are waiting on now is our Extreme Buffer Disturbance Permit from the EPD. It has been
sent in but just has not been approved yet. As soon as that is approved, we will be able to start work. The restroom
buildings will be 9’4” X 9’4” and they will have all solar lighting. Mayor Wyatt then said that the launches will have rock
steps on each side of the launch and it will angle pointing downstream at a 45 degree angle. At the top, there will be a
hand crank wench and that will let the boats down or pull them up. At the Chattoogaville site, the steps and the launch
will be under the bridge. Mayor Wyatt said that we hope to be started by August and finished by the end of the year.
The meeting ended at 7:20.
