Please submit completed forms at reception or administration. In-home students may give their forms to their teachers. Entries will be accepted with a $5 late fee up to one week after the deadline. Entries received after the extended deadline will not be accepted. Entries for StudioFest must be received no later than Wednesday December 17th 2014 at 9:00pm. StudioFest entries are free to all Merriam students. StudioFest entries will be accepted with a $5 late fee up to one week after the deadline. Entries received after the extended deadline will not be accepted. Students can register for the Merriam School of Music Festival http://members.merriammusic.com under Exams and Other Resources. Entry Forms will not be accepted via email or in person. Dates and times of all categories are set and cannot be changed. All Festival schedules will be posted on the Festival notice board at Merriam Music on Wednesday January 14th 2015. A confirmation email will be sent to the address provided on this form to inform you of the scheduled time for your class/category as well. You may also refer to the MSM festival syllabus for your competitive category date and time window. Festival Syllabus is also available online at http://members.merriammusic.com under Exams and Other Resources. All StudioFest schedules are available in the syllabus. Sessions will run in blocks of 30 minutes and can accommodate 10 performers. All entries will be handled on a first come, first serve basis. Please note that session start times may vary in order to accommodate the demand. Festival competitions will run from February 17th – March 6th inclusive (Mon-Fri 4:00-9:30pm, Sat 9:006:00pm, Sun 11:00-6:00). StudioFest will run from February 9th – 14th inclusive (Mon-Fri 4:00-9:30pm, Sat 9:00-6:00pm). All Festival and StudioFest competitions will take place in the Merriam School of Music Recital Hall for students who attend our Oakville Campus. Vaughan Studiofest will take place on Thursday February 12 2015 at New Hope United Church. Merriam School of Music will provide the following equipment: 1 grand piano, 1 Kawai CP115, microphone and stand, music stands, CD player, drum set, guitar/bass amp and patch chords. Festival piano competitions must be performed on the grand piano. No flash photography or audio/video recordings will be permitted during Festival performances. The performer cannot enter the same piece into more than one solo category and cannot enter more than one piece per solo category. Performers of shorter pieces (one minute or less) may perform one repeat of their piece if they so desire. Original music must be given to adjudicators on the day of the competition, at the start of the class. If the performer requires the original music on stage (woodwind, brass and composition only), photocopies are permitted for adjudicator’s marking purposes and will be destroyed after the Festival is complete. All other photocopies are strictly prohibited and are cause for disqualification. Performers must be registered students of the Merriam School of Music at the time of their performance and entry. Memorization is required for all competitive festival categories (performers will receive adjudication but will not be considered for placement if piece is not memorized). Original Composition and Woodwind & Brass Categories are exempt from this rule. Performers are responsible for providing their own accompanist. Solo entrants performing with a sequence/CD will be required to supply their own sequence/CD. Sequences must be on Standard Midi Format. All sequences/CD will be loaded by the Festival assistant at each competition. Festival entries are non-refundable. Written adjudication forms will be handed out to each student at the end of each session ~ original/copy will not be kept on file. and Studiofest by going to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be handed out by the adjudicator at the end of each Festival competition. The adjudicator must NOT be approached during or after any session and their decisions are final. All questions and concerns must be submitted in writing to the Festival committee (festival@merriammusic.com).
