*Effective Core Instruction: Core instruction should be standards-based, r rigorous, engaging and effective for 85-90% of the students.
RTI is a framework for ensuring that student’s academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs are met. Rigorous implementation of RTI includes a combination of high quality instruction, assessment, and evidence-based intervention.
Comprehensive RTI implementation will contribute to more meaningful identification of learning and behavioral problems, improve instructional quality and provide all students with the best opportunities to succeed in school. The RTI
Team meets monthly.
Important Components of RTI
*Problem Solving Teams: The Problem Solving Team (PST) should be composed of individuals who have in-depth knowledge of instruction and how students learn. The PST is responsible for determining where learning is breaking down for a struggling student, developing a plan to fix the problem, ensuring the plan is implemented, and monitoring the student’s progress to see if the plan in working.
*Interventions: Every school has students with academic an/or behavior skill deficits. These deficits will range from minor to severe and in order to meet the needs of these students, schools need interventions that can address their skill deficits. If a school does not have intervention options, RTI is not possible.
*Progress Monitoring: Students receiving interventions should be progress monitored in order to determine if the interventions are effective.
