Aims International Entrepreneurship concerns International New Ventures (INVs) and established Entrepreneurial Firms, in particular, their entrepreneurial activities in pursuing competitive advantage in global context. The course aims to: provide students with analytical tools and theoretical foundation to understand the process of these activities. equip students with the reconciled and solid theoretical foundation for critical understanding of the international entrepreneurship process, such as resource based view, transaction cost theory, network theory, institutional theory, internationalisation process models, organisational learning theory and headquarter and subsidiaries relationship. Taking the comprehensive global perspective, the course also covers the entrepreneurship in emerging markets such as China, South East Asia and Latin America to better understand how domestic firms in these markets compete with foreign entrants from Western markets. 16. Syllabus Core course topics include: (1) how new ventures are created, grow and survive in competitive global markets, (2) how established entrepreneurial firms organise their business during international expansion and (3) how international market and institutional environments impact on entrepreneurial opportunity recognition, resource deployment and organisation to sustain international competitive advantage.
