Bath & North East Somerset Music Service Music Centre information for pupils Expectations from pupils: We use school venues and some professional venues for our rehearsals and concerts and it is important that we show respect. Pupils are expected to behave in an appropriate manner so as not to endanger others Pupils should follow instructions by tutors, members of staff and ensemble leaders – it is for your own benefit and others safety Instruments and equipment including stands and music resources are the property of the Music Service and should be treated with respect – they are there for your benefit Smoking is not allowed on the school grounds. No gum or gum chewing. No food or drinks in the class rooms, halls or theatre. A mature, respectful and responsible approach to the centre is expected from pupil’s at all times Destructive, disruptive or disrespectful behaviour or speech will not be tolerated. Marking on stands, chairs or walls is strictly prohibited. Please leave each room as you find it. Deposit all rubbish in proper containers Pupils are expected to be ready to start each session promptly. It is recommended that pupils arrive at the centre at least 10 minutes before their ensemble is due to start. If, in the opinion of the tutors and Centre Manager, a student is regularly late to sessions, persistently disruptive to others or in any way consistently demonstrates poor or inappropriate behaviour then that pupil may be asked to withdraw from the Centre Some venues have other hirers in at the same time, particularly Wellsway and Hayesfield. Therefore during the break ALL pupils must assemble at the agreed meeting point in the break (Refectory at Hayesfield). Due to the nature of West Wing (Hayesfield) and Wellsway lettings, other groups including adults use the building. Therefore pupils using the toilet facilities on the 2 nd floor of the West Wing (nearest the refectory) must go in pairs. At Wellsway all pupils should go in pairs. No food including sweets are allowed to be eaten anywhere in the school except the refectory. ALL pupils are expected to meet in the refectory during the break. We cannot take responsibility for pupils going outside in the grounds during the break. Therefore we strongly advise that ALL pupils remain within the refectory. February 2014 Admission data and Medical forms Admission and medical forms must be completed by all new pupils at the centre. It is essential that we are aware of any medical, learning or behaviour problems that the pupils may have. Please give completed forms to the Centre Manager. All information will be kept confidential. Pupils are expected to arrive no later than 10 minutes before the scheduled start time to allow rehearsals to start on time. Fire drills and first aid Fire drills maybe carried out at the discretion of the venue. A person qualified in first aid and 1st aid box is available at every Music Centre session. Use of mobile phones / devices Mobiles should not be used during rehearsals unless for a specific musical point as directed by the ensemble leader or for an actual emergency. Mobiles should be kept out of sight during the break and again only used for an absolute emergency. We will not tolerate any inappropriate use of a mobile device at any time. This includes any incidence involving unsuitable images/ video or cyber bullying. If pupils are found to be abusing this trust parents will be notified and pupils asked to withdraw from the music centres February 2014
