Music Centre information for pupils
Expectations from pupils:
 We use school venues and some professional venues for our rehearsals and
concerts and it is important that we show respect.
 Pupils are expected to behave in an appropriate manner so as not to
endanger others
 Pupils should follow instructions by tutors, members of staff and ensemble
leaders – it is for your own benefit and others safety
 Instruments and equipment including stands and music resources are the
property of the Music Service and should be treated with respect – they are
there for your benefit
 Smoking is not allowed on the school grounds.
 No gum or gum chewing.
 No food or drinks in the class rooms, halls or theatre.
 A mature, respectful and responsible approach to the centre is expected from
pupil’s at all times
 Destructive, disruptive or disrespectful behaviour or speech will not be
tolerated.
 Marking on stands, chairs or walls is strictly prohibited.
 Please leave each room as you find it.
 Deposit all rubbish in proper containers
 Pupils are expected to be ready to start each session promptly. It is
recommended that pupils arrive at the centre at least 10 minutes before their
ensemble is due to start.
 If, in the opinion of the tutors and Centre Manager, a student is regularly late
to sessions, persistently disruptive to others or in any way consistently
demonstrates poor or inappropriate behaviour then that pupil may be asked to
withdraw from the Centre
Some venues have other hirers in at the same time, particularly Wellsway and
Hayesfield. Therefore during the break ALL pupils must assemble at the agreed
meeting point in the break (Refectory at Hayesfield).
Due to the nature of West Wing (Hayesfield) and Wellsway lettings, other groups
including adults use the building. Therefore pupils using the toilet facilities on the 2 nd
floor of the West Wing (nearest the refectory) must go in pairs. At Wellsway all pupils
should go in pairs.
No food including sweets are allowed to be eaten anywhere in the school except the
refectory.
ALL pupils are expected to meet in the refectory during the break.
We cannot take responsibility for pupils going outside in the grounds during the
break. Therefore we strongly advise that ALL pupils remain within the refectory.
